Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her high-quality performance in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, like an Oscar for the movie Piano. She began her career acting as an actress both on Broadway and Off Broadway. Passionate about acting since her childhood, she performed Helen Keller in a play during the 5th grade. The mumps that she contracted left her blind and deaf in the one ear, but she refused to let that hinder her progress as an actress. She studied drama at college before moving between Pittsburgh and moved to New York City to follow her dream. Hunter was introduced to Beth Henley by chance in the lift. Together they composed Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The play was Hunter's first acting debut. The first time she appeared in a film was following her move in Los Angeles. In the three decades since her time in Los Angeles Holly Hunter has been in many films, series and television films. Holly Hunter won a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
