Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor, producer, and director. She has been praised for movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes, like an Oscar for the film Piano. Her career began acting as a performer on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. From the age of a child she's been enthusiastic about acting. She played Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in the school's play. Her hearing loss was in one ear due to mumps but did not allow this handicap to hinder her determination to become an actor. In college she studied theatre after which she moved into New York City in pursuit of her dreams. In a chance encounter she got stuck in an elevator together with writer Beth Henley and the two were a team in Broadway Crimes of the Heart that became Hunter's debut. She relocated into Los Angeles and tried to get movie roles. In Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. Holly Hunter has been in numerous television series, films and movies over the course of her career. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
